Walk to places near by! Like when you’re going to lunch, if the restaurant is just a few blocks down, then walk.

Wake up before the children. Go for a nice walk/run. Come home, shower, journal and you’re ready to start your day….energized and exercised!

Make your normal duties exercise. For example, I know you have stairs, every time you walk up them do it on your tippy toes to work the calves or jog up them maybe even put some dumbells near the stairs and pump your arms on your way up…park further away when going shopping, even if you are just watching a movie with the fam throw some stretching in. :-)

Walking the dog is how I fit some exercise into every day–

I get my workout in first thing in the morning. My gym is just one mile from my home so I run to the gym every morning. I find that it jump starts my day and gives me tons of energy.

Start a Mommy Get Fit Club in your neighborhood. Call the other Mom’s you know who are always complaining about not being in shape and make a pack to go for a morning walk when the kids are in school or before they wake. There is always more power in numbers. You are much less likely to give up when you are supposed to be meeting other people:)

While your waiting for your kids to get out of soccer practice (or any practice) get yourself out of the car and take a quick wak around whatever neighborhood your in. As a wannabee yogi I also use the time spent in line testing my balance on my weaker leg. I suppose all those other in line think I am doing my best flamingo impersonation.

My tip would be to do an evening after dinner stroll around the block. That’s when it’s less hot outside and the cooler temperature makes it easier to exercise.

Reply

Karen P. October 20, 2009 at 12:44 pm

I do a 20 minute exercise before I hop in the shower and start dinner in the evening.

I always wake up at 5:40 a.m. and go for a run with friends. It is a great time to get out and have a good run and some good girl time. It helps me know that before the day has even begun, I have done something good.

You just have to make yourself to squeeze the time! Make exercise a habit, a part of your daily routine, it gets easier after a few weeks.

Using the stairs at work and parking where you can get in a good walk are both good ways to sneak exercise in on busy days.
