On September 16, Walgreens will be introducing a new loyalty rewards program called Balance Rewards. With this program you earn points for various things such as purchases, prescriptions, vaccinations, even participating in the “Walk with Walgreens” fitness program according to this interview of Walgreen’s VP of Loyalty and Customer Insights.
There is no indication on their website as to whether this will replace the current Register Rewards system, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
Below is a bit more information from the program terms and conditions on how to earn and redeem points. You can find additional information and participate in early enrollment on their website. If you enroll before September 15th, you’ll be entered to win 1 million rewards points.
“Balance Rewards Members will be offered promotions which will award Points with the purchase of specified products and/or services from a Participating Store during the promotion period.
When purchasing items and/or services at a Participating Store, Member may choose to either redeem earned Points or continue saving Points to use on a future purchase of items and/or services…Earned Points are converted into Redemption Dollars in five (5) tiers:
(1) 5,000 points = $5
(2) 10,000 points =$10
(3) 18,000 points =$20
(4) 30,000 points =$35
(5) 40,000 points =$50
Redemption Dollars will not be paid out in cash or Store Credit.”
