It’s been a while since we’ve mentioned Thred-Up (kid’s online used clothing site) but since we posted about LikeTwice.com (women’s online used clothing site) I thought it was time we talked about it again. Especially since they’ve just released a FREE shipping coupon code when you shop through this link: SHIPOCT12.
Shop for like-new kids clothes from all your favorite brands. Hundreds of new items daily at incredible prices. New members can get Free Shipping on their first order with code: SHIPOCT12. Valid through 10/31/12. No minimum.
I know many of you have used Thred-Up and we’d love to hear from you, what was your experience like? I can’t remember when we last bought NEW clothes for the kids, maybe with an Old Navy deal but for the most part all of our clothing (Mr. Frugal and I included) is used. It’s like a car, drive it off the lot and the value is lost – same goes with new clothes in my book

I have ordered twice now from Thred Up’s new program where you select your items from their store. The quality of all of the items I have received has been great! I’ve gotten some things from Gymboree and Lands End for a fraction of their retail price.
It helps to know how the sizing runs from your favorite brands. My little guy is getting into 18-24m sizes, and I know that Gap, Old Navy, Gymboree & Crazy8 all have 18-24m. When I am searching ThredUp for him I select the 18month size and know that any items from those brands in that category will be 18-24m. (Same would go for 12-18m, check the 12m category… they go by the smaller size.)
I have recently sent in my first bag of items to sell to ThredUp, so I’m anxiously waiting to see how that process goes, I’ve read very mixed reviews.
My only complaint about TU is most of the special offers are for new members. Hopefully they are starting to listen to existing member’s asking to be included in coupon codes occasionally! But overall, sure beats paying retail — and you know the quality will be good!

Hi Julia! Thank you so much for covering thredUP on your blog. I love your comparison of clothing and cars! I did want to make a quick note that the free shipping coupon can not be combined with any other offers. If a new member uses a referral link and receives a coupon for $10 off their first order, they can not combine it with the free shipping offer. All new members can receive free shipping just by signing up on http://www.thredup.com. Thanks again!
