According to a friend of mine who works at Target, their online policy, and a confirmation email from Target Inc. They will do price adjustments on previous purchases within one week. So, you could go in today and pay full price and then get the adjustment on Friday. This would save you from waiting in line!

Autumn, what a great tip! Thanks! Where did you find the online policy?

I looked at target.com’s price match policy here: http://sites.target.com/site/en/company/page.jsp?contentId=WCMP04-040400 and it says that “timed events, e.g. doorbusters” are excluded. Wouldn’t this include Black Friday as an exclusion?

I don’t think they do price adjustments for Black Friday…in fact I am almost positive they don’t. They told me last year that they didn’t.

That’s the price MATCH policy. Autumn said the price ADJUSTMENT policy, which is if you buy something at Target and it goes on sale within 7 days, you just take your receipt to Customer Service and they give you the difference.

It works great for Black Friday. Except the $10 gift card when you spend $100–which is a new thing for Target, probably to discourage the prebuying.

The policy is store dependent. The one close to me doesn’t do it, but a nearby one did. Not only that, they price matched Wal-Mart’s black friday stuff @ the same time!

It really depends on your cashier- pick a teenager, they’re likely to do it. Get a manager, not as likely! It just depends on how much they know about the policy (Target as a rule is horrible at training their cashiers- everything depends on who you end up with!)

It’s a company policy not a store policy to price adjust. If you bought an item within 7 days including the door busters. They have to give you a price adjustment. And if you go to a store that doesn’t. You call the main customer service number and complain. And do it in the store, and tell them that the manager gave you a hard time about it. You will get it, and maybe a little something extra in the mail for your time. It’s crazy always hearing these horror stories about stores. As a Target employee, it blows my mind to hear managers not doing their jobs.

So Nate, do you buy the item say the day before and then go in on Black Friday for the price adjustment??
