*UPDATE* Please don’t sign up for this anymore. It seems that Starbucks reached their limit and aren’t giving out free cards anymore

*UPDATE* Several readers are writing in that they bought their eGift on Monday and have not yet received their free eGift. I don’t know why this happened! I just wrote to Customer Service at Starbucks and asked them for an explanation. I will keep you posted on their reply. I am so sorry for the inconvenience but I had no way of knowing that this would happen.

Now through 12/6 when you send a $5 Starbuck’s red cup eGift to a friend using a Visa® card and you will  receive a FREE $5 eGift from Starbucks for yourself!  It’s super simple, just give the email address of your friend, personalize your eGift card, pay with a Visa card and that’s it. Qualifying recipients will receive their eGift via email within 24 hours. This offer from Starbucks in only good through 12/6

    What’s an egift?

    • It’s just like a gift card but you send it over the internet. The person you send the eGift to simply prints it in order to cash it!

  2. Did mine one the first day..said avail to first 75,000 only…haven’t received my free one yet:(

    • Thanks for the heads up, Nancy. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they are just backed up. Let me know when you get it, please.

  3. I also tried this on Monday and never got a free one…boo.

  4. Guess I should have read the comments before buying. I haven’t received a free eGift yet either…Not happy.

    • Aaron … I wouldn’t give up yet. It says on the site that it can take up to 24 hours to get the card. Starbucks is a serious company and
I wouldn’t think that they would go back on their word. Please keep me posted!

  5. I just reviewed the fine print, and it says you are not guaranteed to receive the free egift card, as it is limited to the first 75,000 qualifying purchases, and it began Mon Dec 1. I’m assuming they’ve surely reached that limit by now. :( Too bad, I was kinda stoked about it.

    • That fine print :/ ! I’m sorry I didn’t hear about this promo on Monday. I feel bad for those who signed up for this and won’t get their free card. I’m so bummed!

  6. I bought mine yesterday (Wed) afternoon and my eGift card came today.

    • I’m so glad to hear this! I bought mine on Wednesday and haven’t received it. I’m hoping it’s still processing. Keeping my fingers crossed :)

  7. This is the response I got from Starbucks:

    Dear Maria,
    Thank you for contacting Starbucks.
I’m very sorry for the inconvenience. Please keep these steps in mind to ensure you made a qualifying purchase
    What a qualifying purchase is:
    - A Red Cup design eGift sent to someone other than yourself
    - Paid with Visa
    - One per customer
    - Must be within the first 75,000 customers
Due to the enormous participation in the Cyber Monday promotion, I must ask that you wait 24 hours before checking again to see if you qualified for the $5 egift. Please know that our IT team is aware of the delay and will get those eGifts out as soon as possible. If you see a balance merge of $5.00 on your Starbucks Card (if applicable) please note that you have already received the eGift. Thank you for your patience.
If you ever have any questions or concerns in the future, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
