I’m trying to wrap my mind around the best way to take advantage of this hot deal, but I’m still foggy after having my family down and out with the flu this week – so any help is appreciated! Let’s start with the comment reader Tressa left on this week’s Safeway deals…
Screaming deal on kraft salad dressing buy 10 salad dressing 1.88 (have to load on card Just4u price) unlimited. On sale buy 1 get 1 free. NO coupons needed but there is a printable $1 off 2 kraft I didn’t have it so paid 9.40 out of pocket and got $10 catalina back …. 10 dressing for free plus .60 cents overage!!!! that is my kind of deal!
So first off, check your Just For U price on the Kraft Salad Dressing then come back. Let’s assume we all got a price around $2.00 (mine is $2.08).
Buy (10) bottles of Kraft Salad Dressing – $2.00
Buy 1, Get 1 Free
Pay $10 Out of Pocket
Get a $10 Catalina from Kraft (more details here)
Final Price: 10 FREE Bottles of Salad Dressing!
Now it get’s even better if you’re able to use the $1/2 Kraft Salad Dressings Coupon. Some stores do not allow you to use a coupon on the free item of a BOGO sale, this will vary greatly by location. If you can, here is your deal scenario…
Buy (10) bottles of Kraft Salad Dressing – $2.00
Buy 1, Get 1 Free
USE UP TO (5) $1/2 Kraft Salad Dressings Coupon - of course not everyone will have this many coupons)
Pay $5 Out of Pocket
Get a $10 Catalina from Kraft (more details here)
Final Price: 10 FREE Bottles of Salad Dressing plus a $5 Money Maker!
Let’s assume you can print 2 copies and do not have access to another computer, this is what your deal scenario would look like…
Buy (10) bottles of Kraft Salad Dressing – $2.00
Buy 1, Get 1 Free
Use (2) $1/2 Kraft Salad Dressings Coupon - of course not everyone will have this many coupons)
Pay $8 Out of Pocket
Get a $10 Catalina from Kraft (more details here)
Final Price: 10 FREE Bottles of Salad Dressing plus a $2 Money Maker!
If your store doubles you’ll save another $2.00 on your transaction making it a possible $7 money maker – wow!

Gloria August 30, 2012 at 11:14 am
I never understand why you say something is free after the catalina spits out. The next purchase is actually free. You actually have to fork out $10 for the dressing…Am I missing something? I mean it’s a great deal and you eventually can get something for free…but…
Brenda August 31, 2012 at 12:10 am
Gloria,
I understand that the concept can be confusing, but this is how I look at it.
In my opinion catalinas work the best for stores that you shop at regularly. When I purchase something at Safeway and receive a catalina for it I always figure out my total by subtracting out the catalina I received because I earned it by buying buying those products. The next time I shop at Safeway I will redeem my catalina instead of just paying cash for that purchase. Since I consider my catalinas as cash, I prefer to earn these at stores that I shop at most often, because I know that I will be able to spend it without any extra effort. I don’t like earning catalinas at stores that I normally don’t shop at because then I have to figure out how to use this “cash”. It doesn’t make sense to me to earn a catalina and then turn around and use it on something that I normally would not buy just because I needed to use the catalina.
Hopefully, my rambling example will help explain how some people choose to view their catalinas. There are plenty of people that do not count their catalinas until they use them, it just depends on what makes the most sense to you.

I haven’t had any luck lately on the buy one get one deals working with Just 4 U pricing. It seems that they have re-programmed their computers to give the lower of the J4U or BOGO regular price. Anyone else had these work lately?
Patricia August 30, 2012 at 11:49 am
YES! I have a personalized price on Ocean Spray Craisins for $1.69 each and they are BOGO and I got 20% taken off that from the produce department – so $1.35 for two packs
Janet August 30, 2012 at 11:31 am
I got the price of 1.95 but when you look at “see details” it reads you can not combine with other offers including coupons. Do they mean in store coupons and/or manufacturers coupons??
Patricia August 30, 2012 at 11:52 am
Also -check your Just for You account to see if you have a personalized price for coke products at $3.67 each and a coupon for buy 2 get 3 free. I did this this morning and it came out to 5 twelve packs for 7.34! That’s $1.47 a pack
mary August 30, 2012 at 12:17 pm
i received $1.00 off one time offer
Jenelle Case August 30, 2012 at 12:33 pm

Everyone likes free groceries
Shannon August 30, 2012 at 7:00 pm
It’s weird that that works, isn’t the Just4U digital coupon considered a manufacturer coupon and so the paper MQ’s wouldn’t be accepted?
Sarah Bloedel via Facebook August 30, 2012 at 7:03 pm
My husband went to Safeway. After you take into account the $10 catalina he came home with we got: 10 packages of hotdogs, a box of granola bars, 2 bailey’s creamers, 10 packages of lunch meat, 8 dressings & 2 kraft cheese singles for $5!!! This was over three transactions – it was AWESOME
The Frugal Find via Facebook August 30, 2012 at 7:06 pm
Incredible Sarah! If you’re up to taking a picture, I’d LOVE to share this on TFF!
Sarah Bloedel via Facebook August 30, 2012 at 7:16 pm
Will do! Just for you, I got it all back out and took a picture..
The Frugal Find via Facebook August 30, 2012 at 7:25 pm
You’re awesome!
lindy August 31, 2012 at 12:12 am
The Kraft coleslaw dressing isn’t producing the cat, but still an awesome price for this type of dressing if you get the $1.88 price, bogo sale, and use $1/2 coupon. $0.44 a bottle is a great deal. I picked up 4.
Wendy August 31, 2012 at 4:52 pm
My Safeway has the Kraft dressing at BOGO but the price is 3.99. Am I missing something?
shawn September 1, 2012 at 9:32 am
I bought 10 bottles of the Kraft Anything dressing, but no catalina printed. Does anyone know if the Anything dressing is included?
Samantha Miller Doerfler via Facebook September 1, 2012 at 6:38 pm
Question for you….what do I do if I don’t get my catalina? since it’s not the store’s coupon, they won’t do anything. I am super mad- I bought 6 kraft items (including this salad dressing) and didn’t get a catalina at all!!!!
Brenda September 1, 2012 at 8:10 pm
Samantha,
Here’s the address to contact the Catalina company.
support . catalinamarketing . com (remove the spaces)
Have your receipt handy because you will need to enter some information from it. They usually will respond pretty quickly and mail you your catalina, although it probably will take longer due to Labor Day.
MrsV September 2, 2012 at 1:23 pm
I bought a bunch of the Kraft Anything dressings and got the Catalina.
I didn’t have the personalized price on my J4U. However, they were $3.99, B1G1Free, making them essentially $2.00 each. I bought 10, used 5 $1.00 off 2 coupons, and got the $10 Catalina. That dropped the price to only $.50 each!
