Do the Catalina’s @ safeway, work the same way as a RR @ Walgreens?

Hi Julia – On the Nature Valley bars, how many boxes are in that purchase? It looks like you are buying 3 boxes and using two of the $.40/1 coupons per box – is that how it works? Thank you :)

Julia March 9, 2010 at 10:25 pm

I’ll be putting up my deal scenario/shopping list – but with all of those items in the top half of the post, you have to buy 5 to get the price listed.

Thanks… I was just curious how the price went from $1.50 to $.70 with a $.40 coupon, so I was assuming you must use two coupons per item. I’ll watch for your scenario. You are amazing and I am loving saving money thanks to you! :)

Hi Julia,
I clicked on the link for the $1.50 off 2 boxes of Corn Flakes, but I can’t find it???
Thanks for any help.

Danielle, I just looked again, that’s because of the $.40 eCoupon.

Glad I can help, really – it’s a blessing to me to be able to.

How many times do the ecoupons come off?
So say I bought 5 nature valley granola bars…will it take $.40 off each box or just off one box? Thanks so much

Julia March 10, 2010 at 9:19 am

eCoupons only come off once, you cannot reload them either.

Julia – Thanks for the amazing information!

One question – One of my Safeways would not take a store coupon and manufacturer coupon. I was wanting to get the WW Smart Ones. I tried to find the policy for Safeway on the website but could not. Do they offer a published policy about this? I know most stores are a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon are ok.

Here is a link to Safeway’s coupon policy:

Hopefully that helps!

Bummer for me here in Central Cali…all the vons here seem to have different coupon policies…one says they can only take two like coupons and another says only one of each coupon can be used. I’ve gotten lots a great deals, but they are now getting pretty strict about coupons.

Is it snowing where you are, because I think it’s CHRISTMAS!! I just put together all my deals for this afternoons ROBBERY of Safeway, I’m so excited!! Most of this stuff is for fun anyway, I have more fruit snacks and cereal than my kid will ever eat in a year, but more for the church’s food pantry! yay Safeway!

Krisi March 10, 2010 at 9:23 am

Thank you Julia I did see this but it does not address a coupon with store coupon.

Reply

Julia March 10, 2010 at 9:26 am

Krisi, good point…but it’s always been the norm. I always suggest just trying again with a different cashier.

Wow, I just SCORED at Safeway. My pantry is bursting! I’m going to go back tomorrow to use the Catalina to get more fruit snacks. The cashier was really impressed – though she teased me because I forgot to bring my Safeway double off coupon. We got a good laugh.

Julia, I have a question about limits. As you mentioned, this buy 5 save $5 has a limit of 20 items. Do you know if that means 20 per shopping trip or 20 total during the entire promotion? I’ve been assuming it’s 20 total since they can track how many you bought on other trips via your Club Card. I’m not so interested for this deal since 20 is already a lot, but some times the limit is only 2 or so. Thanks, I have learned so much from your site!

Julia – I can’t find the Cinnamon Toast Crunch (GM) coupons. A full cup says 3/7 SS not 2/7 RP. I can’t find it in either of these ads. A full cup shows printables which I can’t find either. Do we need another zip code?

Have you seen this at our Safeway- Concord?
$0.70/1 – Kellogg’s Corn Pops, Apple Jacks or Froot Loops Cereal, 12 oz or larger from Blinkie Machine In Store

Just went to Safeway and got a ton of stuff for $25.00 (80% savings) and also got $17.00 in catalinas for next time. By the way, the whole grain is not included for the Barilla pasta but the Piccolini is. There was a $.75 coupon in the 3/7 ss for this as well (at least in my area).

MOLOMATIC: I bought more than 20 items, but in separate transactions with the same club card and it went through fine. I actually did it all in one trip, one line (I go when it is not busy to avoid making other customers wait on me), and one cashier just one order at a time. I guess this may be considered cheating, but even when they have the coupons in the paper “limit 3″ I have always been able to get 3 PER TRANSACTION with the same card…just need a separate coupon. **I am sure you know this, but I was also sure to buy my fruit snacks 5 at a time so I got the catalina for each set of 5. i bought a ton for the snack pantry at my sons school and for the foodbank that we will drop off this afternoon along with all of the free cereal.

I should have looked at ur blog before going yesterday (Wednesday) as I saw the catalina paper stating the promo kellogs deal til the 10th but thought of the 5/$5 & when at store just let the kids pick from the tags as we already had to be mindful of getting the ones that were in the same price group for the 5/$5 and I didn’t want to have to think of wich Kellogs would go with both deals that we’d like but u did it and that’s just what I needed to see so next time I’ll have to look here 1st:) I just discovered this blog and think it is my new favorite!

for the post raisin bran, doesn’t the safeway coupon policy say it won’t take a coupon if the coupon is over 50% of the price? the raisin bran is 1.50 and the coupon is 2.00?

Reply

Julia March 15, 2010 at 8:43 am

The official policy is they won’t accept coupons over the “value”, which is $4.49, not the sale price of $1.50.
