Passbox Deal of the Day: $15 for $40 of food at Residual Sugar Wine Bar in Walnut Creek (Giveaway too!)

by Julia on July 2, 2010 · 48 comments

Now I have to preface this by saying, I don’t drink wine but I can spot a deal when I see one!  This restaurant has a unique story and by the 5 Star Reviews on Yelp I think it’s a a very calculated deal! The latest Passbox Deal of the Day is $15 worth of food and drinks at Residual Sugar Wine Bar in Walnut Creek.  I think this would be  a lovely place for a date night (but I’m partial to Walnut Creek having grown up there).

Walnut Creek-based couple Jim (a sommelier) and Jennifer Telford decided to pursue their dream of opening a wine bar when they noticed the empty storefront near Katy’s Kreek on Locust Street, where they happened to be eating breakfast one morning. The inside had to be remodeled since the location had formerly served as a sporting goods store, but with the installation of a gorgeous bar area and several dark wood wine racks that can hold up to 5,000 bottles of wine, the merlot-colored space now resembles a collector’s wine cellar.

Don’t forget, 5% of your purchase is donated to the school of YOUR choice!  You can read more about Passbox’s desire to give back. You can also read my Introducing….Passbox post to find out who Passbox is and what they’re doing!

How would you like to win a $40 certificate to Residual Sugar at NO cost?!

My favorite restaurant is Luna in Concord. If it wouldn’t be in bad taste, I would lick the plate!

Helping broken families can make me stressed. I could really use a nice glass of wine.

My favorite place for a date night is Aziza in San Francisco-it’s Moroccan food in an intimate beautiful setting. You sit in these fabulous booths which shield you from prying eyes of your neighbor diners. They have excellent cocktails made with muddled herbs and fruits along with delicious entrees made by the chef who won an Iron Chef competition.

Residual Sugar sounds like a wonderful place-would love to try it!

It has been way too long without a date for us! Between having to find a babysitter and pay for it, it has been awhile.

Reply

Danae July 3, 2010 at 10:22 am

We go out for frozen yogurt usually as it is fairly cheap and we can take a walk and talk at the same time.
