I was talking to the the bank lady last week and she said you got more than 500 referrals!!! Wow!!!
Haha, no no. I did not, that would have been nice though!
Probably seemed like it though. I know the one day I was at the bank to open an account, not only did she tell me I was her 13th account opening that morning, but I saw your husband there as well….thanks again Julia!!!
Ryoko and Kathy,
500 referrals = $12,500 for Julia. Not a bad income for a stay at home mom on her computer. Since I’ve been blogging (not for profit), I’ve met many online bloggers who confide in me and explain how lucrative these deals are for them. Actually, the $12K doesn’t surprise me at all.
Kathy, 13th account that morning x 30 days could equal way over 600 new accounts. And, a $25.00 incentive back to Julia for each one. In fact, I would have suspected much more for a deal like this in a town the size of Concord. There is definitely a profit to be made in online blogging and couponing. Congratulations Julia! You’ve found a profitable niche.
Once again, I made NOTHING near that. Ana, if you were following our story you’d know we’re on our way to 4 months of unemployment, rent was paid and we’re feeling so incredibly blessed. My blog isn’t about making money, but about helping people to save theirs. It would be nice to make a little bit here and there, as the Lord opens the doors.
Hmmm… I forgot my online login info! lol
So what’s the big deal. Julia got $25.00 back for each referral. bank lady says there were 500 referrals. Julia, how much did you make? thanks for the deals. we do like your website.
Thanks B. The fact is that everyone got $75 too! I guess not everyone sees the good on both sides. We made just enough to pay rent and PG&E, we are so thankful.
I think it is amazing that God provided for Julia and her family in such an amazing way. I never felt “scammed” by this deal…. I used her referral and got my own $75, and then referred a few friends myself, which everyone had the capability to do.
I’d also like to commend Julia on all of her efforts to provide for her family, both financially and otherwise . I know, for one, that stay at home moms do not sit at home on the computer all day, and I also know that if they did, Julia is not one of them! I’m probably more guilty of spending extra time on the computer than the rest of us.
Keep the deals coming Julia… you’re doing a great job. I’m so thankful to have found you (are you getting tired of me telling you that yet? hehe)… it’s saved our family so much money, and now we can give more as well. It’s a win-win!
Dear Julia,
If you made $12,000 or not, I was only taking the bank lady on her word. 500 referrals (and Ryoko and Kathy on their word too.) I understand your blog is about helping others save money, and I commend you for that. You obviously are out there making the deals, shopping and bringing home the photos! I help people too with my self-funded, non-profit, fruit harvesting mission. I feed the hungry. I blog too, to inspire others. (Though I don’t make any money at it.) Perhaps you can help me in some way – to help others at a larger level?
I do have friends who make a decent income with google ads and other sorts of promotions. It’s intriguing to me. There is no crime in making a profit on something. I don’t think anyone was saying anything about the good on both sides – at least that’s not what I took Ryoko or Kathy’s comments to mean.
I offered my Congratulations to you. That’s the power of the blogging world. I think your readers only expected to see a simple forthright answer. Maybe that’s the title of your next seminar. “Stay-at-home Mom makes $10,000 in only one month!” Everyone knew that they make the $75.00 and you got a $25.00 referral fee. That was the name of the game. You should be proud. I see you also have some paid advertising on your site from two local businesses. Congratulations again. Pretty soon, we’ll be calling you Mrs. Hearst…and you’ll be moving away to San Simeon!
Have a good day. By the way, please let me know when you’d be available to do that coupon class we discussed a while back for a group of low-income ladies. Thanks, and keep up the busy blogging.
On a larger level? I’m reaching thousands of families daily with my money saving tips. That’s just my blog, I also put in well over 20 hours a week serving at my church. Yes serving the poor, the needy, the children, and their families. This isn’t about making money, this is a ministry. If you read my About Me section you’ll see where my heart is. My readers don’t care how much I make here on the blog. I suppose just like any business, it’s not something you advertise openly either. This will be the first month I actually made money if really want to know. As far as my local ad spaces go, they are both donated I wasn’t paid for either of them.
Clearly from the comments you leave, you have an issue with The Frugal Find. I don’t understand that, but alas we all have our issues.
You well know that in my last email to you about the Coupon Class for low-income ladies I said absolutely, just let me know when and where. I’ve done several of these and will continue to do so. Also, my readers know if they are currently unemployed they can attend any of my classes free of charge.
This is crazy that I even feel the need to respond.
Anna,
I’m getting really offended by a lot of what you are saying in your comments. Feeding the hungry is admirable, and the way in which you collect food is very creative. However, your attitude towards Julia is very stunning and it really makes me look at you (and your blog, and your work in the community) in a completely different light.
As a stay at home mom, and an active volunteer in our community, I don’t understand how you could misconstrue everything that Julia and this blog are about and then try and label that on a whole group of people. I probably spend just as much time volunteering for my non-profit group as you do during the week, yet I’m not writing comments telling others how I am so much better than them because of what I do for people. It is a way of life for me, something I am passionate about, and helping our community and making a difference is enough gratification for me. I guess that is not the case for you, which opens my eyes and I hope the eyes of others.
You are taking a bank tellers word over Julia’s, how absurd. Was it the same banker who gave me false information while I was there signing up for my accounts? You’re not doing the community a lot of good if you are only focusing on glorifying yourself and bashing those who help the community in other ways than picking fruit. If you were wise, you would see that you should have spent all your negative energy and time by partnering with other active members in our community in such a way that our community would be richer in all areas in the end. It’s a shame that you did not do that, and I’m sorry you have such a false sense of reality about this whole situation.
Ahhhh, Julia! I hate reading all this personal attack stuff. As you continue to be a blessing to so many and work for HIM in your ministry I will be praying for your hearts protection! Loving The Frugal Find and don’t care what you make or didn’t make!
Whitney and Julia,
I think my comments have been totally misunderstood. Please feel free to phone me and perhaps we can discuss this rather than continuing to attack me. I truly didn’t mean to offend anyone. I can humbly apologize if that is how it was taken. I was only attempting to be “cute” in a few sentences, and in return feel like I’m being bashed by false statements being made about my intentions. I never had any issues with anyone, and I’ve NEVER focused on glorifying myself.
I have not tried to “label something on someone else”, nor am I “better than anyone else”. Knock on any door – the trails and tears are evident. These are difficult times for all of us – I’m sure. I have empathy, sympathy, and love of our community. If I have hurt another’s feelings, for that I am deeply saddened.
I actually admired Julia, and looked up to her as a spiritual leader in our community.
I am horrified by what I’m reading – and I don’t condone an endless attack on anyone. This has gotten way out of hand. Now, I’m being attacked on this blog. As I’ve mentioned above – I’m truly sorry if my blog entry came across offensive. I have a little girl that was vying for my attention, and I was typing fast and trying to include something “cute”.
Julia,
I like your blog and I think you’re doing a fine job. I was just being “cute”, and I think you and I are both misunderstanding one another.
Perhaps it would be best for you to delete my recent comments on your thread – and for you to delete yours in reply to mine. That is what a Christian friend of mine has advised.
There are no hard feelings. Though, I sensed that from you.
God Bless you and your family.
Sincerely,
Anna Chan
I’ll approve this comment and accept your apology however this will be the last comment of yours that I’ll approve.
Thank you Julia for your savings “picks” and coupons with an easy “click”.
Anna, that’s an example of something “cute”.
If I ever need examples of something negative and mean spirited, can you help me?
Thank you everyone for your support. I am going to close comments so this doesn’t continue. This isn’t what my blog is about, and I want to keep it uplifting, positive, and encouraging. Check back soon for this week’s Target deals!
