I shopped for everything above in a few different trips, as I was testing deals, etc.  Plus I had to go back for yesterday’s $5 Friday deals. All in all my total was just under $32, but I used catalinas from the Kraft Cheese and Frozen Foods promo to keep my cost down.   I was able to double 4 coupons for a total savings of $2.00 on each trip, I think this was 3 trips total for another $6 savings.  You can go here to see all of the current Safeway deals.

Myth of Doubling Coupons:

I had this grand idea before moving to a “land of doubles” that doubling would mean FREE groceries and that we could cut our budget in half!  It’s not all it seems to be, while I’m very thankful for the $2 savings each time I shop – it by no means is what you would think doubling your coupons means.  At Safeway we can double 4 coupons for a maximum savings of $0.50 per coupon up to $2 – not exactly doubling.  That is the only store here in Central Oregon (that I’m aware of) that double’s coupons.
