Blinkies are coupons provided by the aptly named coupon-dispensing machine which grabs your attention in an aisle by way of a flashing (blinking) red light (led lamp) usually near the product itself.

Blinkies have become generic (much like Kleenex means tissues in a box) and can also refer to any coupon freely available in an aisle, even if there is no blinking display (example: a generic “take-one” display).

Pardon me for asking, but what is a blinkie? Also, you can use manufacture and target coupons simultaneously? Sometimes I look at the back of target coupons and it says only one coupon per item or something like that?

They were mostly the $1/1 Fruit Loops/Apple Jacks blinkies that were available in the cereal aisle for the past few weeks. Kmart had them too. Not sure if they are still there. I had stocked up on them waiting for a great sale to come along. I’m always on the lookout for blinkies (learned from this website) especially in the cereal aisle.

I went to the Walnut Creek Target. Seems like every time I go there, the Target store coupons don’t scan well. So the clerk forced them through. It did get a little confusing, but he pressed K1 at times to override, and other times he used one of my other $1 coupons and scanned it over and over (in lieu of the Target coupon), counting the number of times to make sure it was correct. I did check my receipt carefully later, and it came out correct.

What a great deal! What Target store was it? I bought four boxes of cereal, they took all my manufacturer coupons, but would only let me use three Target coupons- the coupon beeped screen said “coupon cannot be used for free item” and since I got the fourth box free. That’s great all of yours went through!
