Kmart $10 off $20 Coupon – My take.

Well it looks like the Kmart $10 off $20 coupon is a dud. I am very dissapointed to hear the response you guys are gettting from Kmart cashiers/managers nationwide.  I’ve steered away from Kmart and would visit on occasion during their Doubles weeks, but with the latest fiasco I’m even questioning  that trip.

Money Saving Mom put it into a clear perspective:

::KMart released the coupon as a PDF.

::KMart put the coupon on their website.

::KMart made it readily available to be printed as many times as a person wanted.

::KMart stated on the coupon that it was valid everywhere.

Unfortunately, Kmart is not willing to honor the coupon that they issued and even worse are accusing their customers across the United States of acting in an improper manner and using a “fraudulent” coupon – which it WAS NOT.

Just so happens this falls so closely to my Coupon Fraud post a few days ago.  PDF coupons can carry the risk of being fraudulent, but when you can access and print it directly from a store/manufacturer’s website it is 100% legit.  In the case, Kmart just wasn’t willing to “lose” the revenue.  In my case, they’ve lost my revenue completely.

I do apologize to any of you who tried unsuccessfully to use the coupon.

Thanks for letting us know. I’m not impressed with them. You saved us some major embarrassment. I don’t like how they offer a double coupon day and then put so many restrictions it is almost not worth your time to head in. Do you know if this event will also require a $25 purchase? That always confuses me and I end up just not going.

I will NOT be going to the Kmart Double Coupon event. They could have at least taken responsibility for putting the coupon live on their site and the incorrect wording stating it was valid at any Kmart location. Instead they try and make couponers look bad by saying it was fraudulent. Very disappointing!

Anytime I’ve tried to use a coupon a K-mart, I have had problems. I pretty much avoid that store all together unless they have a really great deal on something I want.

Yeah, they’re pretty much digging their own grave here. Someone at KMART made a mistake and instead of correcting it or honoring their coupon, they’re turning it around onto the customers. REALLY bad idea. Customer service is about keeping customers coming back, and keeping them happy. They have done neither. In fact, they have driven others away with their bad press on blogs–I don’t normally shop at KMART and I would have if this hadn’t happened.

i called kmart after going to my store to use the coupon. there were signs everywhere in the store saying it was “unauthorized” even though it said it was ok to use anywhere. when i spoke to the corporate office, they acted like they were annoyed to be taking the call. they obviously have received lots of calls. they said they would “log the complaint” and that’s it! terrible. they also tried to offer the excuse that someone “hacked” their system and put this coupon on there. c’mon!

Hi Julia!

After your class last Thursday, we made a stop at Kmart before they closed. We were able to use the $10/20 coupon with no problems and I stocked up on diapers.

Huggies diapers 2 ($9.99) + candy filler .89cents
-$3.00/1
-$3.00/1
-$10 (kmart coupon)
Total: $5.83

Did this twice before closing. Won’t be going back now that they are not honoring their coupon after they clearly made the mistake. Thanks for the awesome class! I loved meeting you!

This coupon was not a dude. I used it and so did my sister and her friend. It was one of the best coupons EVER!!! The cashier didn’t say a thing. Wish I could print more… no problems at all!

The coupons were meant for the NY and Chicago areas, and customer service says it will come to other areas later. When this first hit the internet I used the NY coupon in Chicago with no problem. Then the next day they started saying I need the Chicago coupon with the locations listed on it. I was able to access that pdf without problem and saved it on my computer so I can print it whenever.

Since then I have gone to kmart several times. They only allow one per visit, so I usually go in and out to my car a few times. It has saved me a TON of money so far.

I am curious though because a friend of mine tried to use the coupon and then other coupons on top of it and they said no, because it has to be 20 dollars AFTER other discounts (I dont view a manufactures coupon as a discount however since they get the money for that anyways). However they have never given me a problem. Im wondering if during double coupon days they will say I cannot use the coupons AFTER I get the 10 dollars off…
