Right now if you sign up for an Electric Orange checking account you can earn $50! We did this several years ago when they ran the promotion – you can’t beat free money! Here’s what you need to do:
- Sign up for a FREE checking account through this link (no minimum balance required and NO fees!)
- Open Electric Orange and make a total of 3 Card purchases or Person2Person Payments (or any combo of the two) within 45 days of account opening. What I recommend is make a couple cheap purchases. I think we bought 3 packs of gum (3 separate transactions).
- Your $50 bonus will automatically be deposited into your account on day 50. That’s a good rate for less than an hours work!
If you like the account, you can continue to use it after the fact. The good thing is, you don’t have to. Once you get your $50 you can pull it out (or you can leave it in and use it).

It’s a checking account, not sure how that would affect your credit. – Mr Frugal

I just signed up … can’t wait for my $50. I just got $100 free from Capital One by signing up for their card and charging $500 within 3 billing cycles. Free money … got it love it!

They REALLY do this with no gimmick! I got a “black Friday sale” from ING & got a $107.00 bonus. I didn’t have to remind them or do anything special, it was just deposited into my account on the pre-determind date.

That’s awesome! We were very happy with the process as well. Hard to beat free money

I couldn’t find out how much the initial deposit is…
Carole Douglas via Facebook February 20, 2012 at 10:26 pm
they have over 300 ATM’s in our area… : )
Kelly Hill Baer via Facebook February 27, 2012 at 1:18 pm
Plus, they have a ton if ATM’s. My bank doesn’t have that many so getting more with this account was great.
ING was just purchased by Capital One.

Do i need to hvae $ on hand to deposit when i sign up?
Mr Frugal February 27, 2012 at 5:06 pm
In your checking account, yes.
Ashley Fitzgerald February 29, 2012 at 9:29 am
I only put in around $5 or so. If you are making small purchases (like a carton of eggs or something) then that is sufficient!
Samantha April 1, 2012 at 2:57 pm
In response to Tereza Dvoral, this $50 will count as interest and be reported to the irs so you would receive a 1099-INT next year for this account. At least that’s how it works at the bank I work at.
Lori Thomas April 7, 2012 at 10:56 am
They do check your credit, if its bad or or unavailable you wont get account as they need credit report to give you the overdraft line of credit.
