Reader and friend, Whitney sent me an email today with her shopping trip experience and the awesome Target Glade promotion. Thanks for sharing Whitney!
Hi Julia,
First off, I hope you are enjoying your vacation!! I just wanted to let you know about a great Glade deal at Target! I know, I know… MORE Glade?! But it worked out that I got 8 glass candles (VERY cute for xmas gifts!) and 7 boxes of refills for free after coupons, gift cards, and rebates. Plus I got my husband the Transformers Blu Ray 2-Disc edition DVD, regularly 29.99, for $13! The promotion is pretty much buy 5 select Glade products, get a $5 gift card. It is for the holiday scents.

Here is what I did:
1st transaction:
Buy 5 Glade candles
Buy 5 Glade refill packs
Use (5) $1.50/1 coupons inside the tins
Use (5) FREE refill coupons WYB the candle, their is a printable or their are blinkies around. (I got my blinkies @ Safeway)
From this transaction you will receive $10 in Target gift cards back.
After tax, I paid $6.39 so this transaction is a profit of +$3.61!
2nd transaction:
Buy 3 Glade candles
Buy 2 Glade refill packs
Use (3) $1.50/1 coupon inside tins
Use (2) FREE refill coupons
Receive $5 gift card
After tax, I paid $3.69 so this is a profit of +$1.31.
I was left with $15 in gift cards, so I used them to buy the Transformers Blu Ray DVD and I ended up paying around $13.
What’s even better, is I can submit these receipts for the SC Johnson rebate and get another $10 back! So that is a PROFIT of $14.92! I could have done the 2nd transaction a third time, for another chance to submit the $5 rebate, but I already sent off 1 request for the SC Johnson rebate (limit 3) so I didn’t need any more than what I got. If someone were to do the 1st transaction and then the 2nd transaction twice (make sure it’s all seperate transactions since the rebate has to be on seperate receipts), that would leave them with a profit of $16.23 and they would have $20 in gift cards left.
I went to the Walnut Creek Target, because when I called over to Pleasant Hill they had no idea what I was talking about. The promotion is from 10/18-12/26 so if they don’t have it already, I’m sure they will soon. Walnut Creek had it on their end cap in row G1 and the shelves were still full of all the sale items, I was probably the first to do the deal around here.
And, again, THANK YOU for teaching me the ropes of couponing! I am feeling so blessed right now. I have almost all of my Christmas shopping done, my cupboards are overflowing, and I am giving more to friends and family than I ever thought I could. In a down economy with both my mom and mother-in-law out of work, it has been such a delight to be able to bring them free food and products to get them by and also light up their afternoon. In just a few months look how much I have gotten! Amazing!!

I found blinkies at Kroger as well – in front of the Glade candles. Happy Hunting!
Blessings and Hugs,
S
OK so i tried this and my target here in Texas would only allow me to buy 10 candles total.. they told me that they had the right to limit me so i could do it!! BOO!!
I found blinkies at Price Chopper in Kansas City! Thanks! I just got back from target and got $25 in GC’s! and have all my Christmas gift exchange items taken care of! : )
I also went to the Walnut Creek Target today (10/22) and checked inside several of the tins, but did not find ANY coupons. Where are you guys finding them?? I assume they would be visible somewhere inside the tin.
Nancy, they are inside the tins or I also found $2 coupons inside the glass holiday ones on the end cap. Sometimes you have to look in the candles towards the back. I hope you are able to find them!
Whitney, which safeway did you find the blinkies?
Wendy, I found mine at the Willow Pass Safeway right by the Glade candles.
Thank you, Whitney, I found them. Also, got my blinkies at the Clayton Safeway next to the Glade products.
I just did this at Pleasant Hill. They have 4 Holiday Tins with coupons left. I heard Walnut Creek is out.
I was in Walnut Creek yesterday and their were plenty of candles and coupons left on their end cap. I have not gone to Pleasant Hill because I called them about it yesterday (for the second time) and they told me they are aware of the promotion but don’t have the product in stock yet.
I was able to use the buy one get one free but they wont let me use the coupons that came from the candles
My Target would not let me use the buy one candle get the refill free coupon. They said that I used a coupon on the candle and since the candle is mentioned on the get refill free coupon I am not allowed to use it. go figure! I kept all my coupons for later or another store.
Oh, that’s a major bummer Donna & Debbie! I did the deal a couple times with no hassles. In that situation, I would have used the $2/1 coupons from inside the candles and it would still be a good deal. I would have put the refills back and done only candles. This promotion is going to be going for a while, so I hope you get your chance to do it! I usually try for the younger, female cashiers when I’m checking out. I even have my “favorites” at the store… the ones who I know will scan my coupons AND smile! I hope you find one of them for this sale.
Thanks for the heads up on this. I will go to the Antioch store on Monday and see if I can get some.
Target in Pleasant Hill charges taxes on before the coupon dollors so the first transaction became $8 instead of $6.39 (they charges me $1.99 for tax!). I would go to Walnut Creek store next time to save tax money!
The Walnut Creek store moved these candles off of their end cap, and I couldn’t find them anywhere else in the store. Several employees could not find them either…. Just a heads up!
I was able to use not only the $1.50 off coupon found in the tins, I was also able to use the buy 1 get the refills free coupon. I bought 5 tins + 5 refills, and since the refills had the $5 gift card promotion, I walked out with 2 $5 gift cards having only spent $5.46. So I basicly got all the candles and the refills for free and I made $4.54. I love Target!
