Last week, Sue Oesterwind was the very lucky winner of our first iPad 2 giveaway.  It was such a huge sucess and so much fun to host that when Pluto Games contacted us and asked if we’d be interested in reviewing their app and giving away another iPad 2 we jumped on the offer!  How could we NOT allow our readers the awesome opportunity to win an iPad?!

Pluto Games has asked us to share a bit about their new (totally free!) app and is sponsoring this week’s prize. Pluto Games has several awesome iPad apps, including Pluto Learns Piano HD. The app is rated for kids 4 and up, and it gets 4.5 stars out of 18 reviews (it’s only been available since the sixth of this month).

Our 9-year old has spent some time playing it recently and she absolutely loved it!  Haley has been wanting to learn how to play the piano, but buying a real piano (not to mention fitting it in our house) is a little impractical at this time. It’s very intuitive – she quickly figured out how to use the app on her own. She breezed through the first four songs in no time at all, and was already excitedly downloading new songs before we knew it.

From a parents perspective, this would never replace actual piano lessons. It would be awesome if it showed you the proper technique for playing the songs as well as which keys to play. We found our daughter basically playing Simon – she was thoroughly enjoying herself, but we noticed her pointer fingers being used more than the rest, kind of like someone who doesn’t know how to type on a computer. It does track your performance, however, so with enough play time you would most likely start learning correct technique (especially on more difficult songs) since you will not have a lot of time to press the keys if you’re only using two fingers.

Pluto Learns Piano HD is a very entertaining app, and I’m sure once her brothers find out about it they’ll be wanting a chance to play it too!  Head on over and download this free app and let us know what you think about it…
