I had no idea this program existed! This is the perfect example of why I love my readers! Wendy emailed me today to tell me about this program. After a little bit of research I found the following information:
There are 2 airlines participating, United Airlines and Alaskan Airlines (but Alaskan is limited to a few states)
United Airlines Mileage Program:

When you sign up with Safeway, be sure to ask about prior purchases. The lady said she would credit me back for the last year of purchases.
