EzLeaps Review And Giveaway!

EZLeaps

If you have a kindergartner or first grade student in your life you’ll want to take note to this super cool EzLeaps review! EzLeaps is a product with 12 designs that get your little one excited about learning to tie their shoe. I know in my house it was super frustrating to try to teach shoe tying because the laces were so small. So we went out and bought super long shoe strings to make learning to tie shoes a little simpler!

EZLeaps is a decorative card (available in 12 designs) that guides children through the process and make the “holding the laces” part more manageable. Plus, the card pops off at the end – and can also hang from a backpack or sport bag for extra assistance if needed at school or practice! With a price of just $5.49 it’s super affordable for every student!

Plus, when your child knows how to tie their own shoe your child’s teacher will thank you!

My 1st grader has been struggling to learn to tie his shoes for a while.  He will catch on and know what he’s doing for a couple of days then we are back to square one and starting from scratch.  One good thing I have to say about EZLeaps is that kids are definitely drawn to wanting to match up the laces with the design, which makes tying shoes with the cards relatively simple.

However, with my kiddo at least, it didn’t seem to translate over to tying his shoes without the EZLeaps.  We practiced with them for quite a while and it didn’t seem to make a huge difference in the long run, other than encouraging him to practice more often which in itself was a huge bonus!

TerraCycle Review and Giveaway ~ Enter for your Chance to Win a Cool Backpack!

This post may contain an affiliate link. Click for the full disclosure.

terracycle review   Have your kids shown an interest in the recycling movement?  We recently had the opportunity to check out these neat bags from TerraCycle and while I was surprised at first (didn’t expect it to be quite so “recycled”) they are a ton of fun and my daughter just loves them! We got the Goodness Grapeness shoulder strap bag which she has used on several beach trips so far!  She also got this fun pencil case (pictured above) that is made out of recycled Capri Sun packages.  How fun is this?!  Plus, it is a large sized pencil case so you can fit a complete box of pencils plus more inside of it!

TerraCycle offers various school supplies that allow children and students to be expressive while also caring for the environment. TerraCycle, a recycling and upcycling company, uses traditionally non-recyclable items to create a variety of cool, creative and eco-friendly school supplies. Environmentally conscious parents can send their kids back to school with upcycled TerraCycle backpacks, made with materials from food and snack companies. TerraCycle offers a Clif Kid ZBar Backpack, which is made from upcycled Clif Kid ZBar wrappers. We also have a Baked Lays Backpack perfect for a young potato chip lover. Aside from backpacks, TerraCycle’s Doritos or Honest Kids Messenger Bag is great for students of all ages carrying textbooks and notebooks around school. TerraCycle’s Drink Pouch Pencil Case is perfect for younger children to take to the classroom. These items are made from packaging that would otherwise end up in landfill.

I am super excited to let you know that Terracycle is giving one lucky winner a Clif Kid ZBar Backpack and another pencil case!  Here are the ways you can enter:

nio Tag Review {and Giveaway!}

This post may contain an affiliate link. Click for the full disclosure.

This.item.is.so.cool! I was so excited to get the chance to review this nio Tag! Okay, let me try to explain the coolness of this tiny device.

nio tag

The nio Tag is a bluetooth powered device that you sync with your smartphone or iPad and it alerts you if you are leaving your stuff behind. I use it all the time and it is a great peace of mind!

It has two different functions. Once you’ve synced the Nio to your phone you just clip it to you or to your purse or whatever. Then let’s say you are at a restaurant and start to walk away leaving your phone at the table, the nio will alert you that you’re leaving your phone.

This device could have saved me one iPhone in my life – which I left at a garage sale and it was gone when I went back to get it.

The second function is it alerts you if someone is moving your stuff. For example, I have a water proof case for my phone so this summer when we went to the beach, we would wade out in the water and I brought my phone with me to take photos.

I was constantly checking the shoreline making sure no one was bothering our belonginings. Had I had the Nio, I could have left it attached to my beach bag and if anyone started moving our stuff my phone would notify me. So cool, right?! You simply sync the device with your phone using their really user friendly app to use this great device.

nio tag 2

The nio Tag costs only $49.99 and is worth every cent if it saves you from losing your purse, iPhone or other valuable item! Head over here to purchase a nio Tag and see more details.

AND one lucky TFF reader will be receiving this for FREE! Just enter the giveaway below for your chance to win!

Our family tries to be as green and environmentally conscious as possible. We recycle, buy in bulk to use less packaging, use reusable items whenever possible and try to get used items when we can.

Energi Backpack Review {and Giveaway!}

This post may contain an affiliate link. Click for the full disclosure.

photo 1 (2)

I was given one of these incredible Energi Backpacks to review and I was excited about the opportunity! My husband is a full-time college student and was in need of a new backpack, and has LOVED this one!

I’m gonna get to the part of this in just a moment, but the Energi backpack itself is incredible. It has a ton of pockets, which he loves to compartmentalize and organize his supplies to help college run a bit more smoothly. The manufacturing and design of this back are incredible quality.

photo 2 (2)

And my husband’s favorite feature of the design are the padded shoulder straps. He says he never realized before how painful shoulder straps could be until he was using a bag that didn’t dig into his shoulders.

photo 3 (1)

Now, the really cool techy stuff – this backpack comes with a rechargeable battery that makes you a walking power source for your electronics!! The battery can charge up to three devices and has come in handy more than once for him to charge his cell phone and tablet. Such an incredible feature! Here are a few details from the manufacturer:

Stylish and functional, this backpack feeds users’ power hungry phones and tablets, making it ideal for students on the go. The removable 10,400mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery charges up to three devices simultaneously. With charging pass-thrus to 7 of the 13 specialized compartments, this backpack makes it easy to store and charge all your gadgets, books and necessities.

Overall, we love this backpack! I just became a full-time college student myself this semester. Lucky for my husband I am doing online classes because if I were going on campus, he’d be looking for a new backpack! :)

Giveway: ONE  (1) lucky TFF reader will have the chance to get an Energi Backpack for FREE!

Scotch Color & Pattern Duct Tape Review {and Giveaway!}

This post may contain an affiliate link. Click for the full disclosure.

Four kids + rainy days = need for new ways to keep them busy!  When I was offered the chance to review Scotch Color & Pattern Duct Tape, I could not wait to let my kids give it a go.   My 13 year old took lead on this craft, and chose black lace, violet purple (not pictured), metallic pink & sea blue.

blacklaceduct 910-MPK-C_C 920-BLU-C_C
As I mentioned, this was a hands off craft for me.  I just let the kids go with it.  I have to admit they were pretty creative.  The little ones (4 & 6) joined in the fun, but needed a little assistance with actually cutting the tape, but the rest of it they were able to do fairly well on their own.

Here is what they came up with:

iPad case…. using a 9×12 padded envelope (also made an iPod case – but I didn’t get to grab a shot of that)

My son (6) who can’t live without his sunglasses decided he wanted to make a case for his.

And the start of what ended up being a shoe shelf for American Girl Dolls.

The possibilities are endless.  There are a ton of ideas on Pinterest too, if you need more direction!

You can pick up these Scotch Color & Pattern Duct Tape on Amazon.com and your local Target and Walmart stores. The colors & combinations that are sold in stores varies so I suggest ordering on Amazon for the styles or your kids might like.

I am so excited that Scotch is giving one lucky winner a set of 5 rolls to create his/her own masterpieces!  Here are the ways to enter:

The Dot Period Answer Book Review {and Giveaway!}

This post may contain an affiliate link. Click for the full disclosure.

dot girl review photo

I recently got The Dot Girl First Period Kit and accessories and had a nice little sit down chat with my 10 year old daughter about it.

Let me just say that over the last several years my daughter and I have discussed menstruation to some degree, but had never gone into detail about it.  My own mother never talked to me about it, so when that time came for me, I was scared and frankly, I was embarrassed.  I never wanted my daughter to feel the same way, so I always make it a goal to have these types of discussions with her often (as much as she may dread them).

The Dot Girl Period First Period Kit was awesome.  My daughter and I sat down and looked through the cool kit of supplies they send you which includes:

  • The Dot Girl Period Answer Book (written in an easy-to-read and positive tone) – a 20-page question and answer booklet covering the basics about menstruation including: How many days does it last? When will I get my first period? How do I track my period? What about cramps? What is a period anyway?
  • My Period Diary – included with The Dot Girl Period Answer Book^(TM), the Diary allows girls to track their period over the first year.
  • The Dot Girl Warm Pad^(TM), a reusable gel heating pad for soothing cramps.
  • Feminine hygiene pads & more supplies included.

Questions came about each of the supplies, which were easy enough to explain (although she is not looking forward to those cramps!) and when were done looking at the supplies we broke out the Answer book and read it together.  I am not going to lie here, it was hands-down one of the best mother-daughter chats we have ever had.   The topics in the book encouraged her to ask even more questions and really brought forth good conversation from her.

She feels much more at ease about the changes coming and now, in addition to me,  she always has a handy book to go to whenever she has questions. Plus the pack it comes in is pretty cute too, it is stylish and gives no clue as to what it holds, so she is able to just stick it in her backpack so that she is prepared whenever it happens.

The Dot Girl Period Answer Book is available at www.dotgirlproducts.com.  Use promo code ’15BLOG‘ for a 15% discount off of your purchase. The coupon code expires 9/30/14.

The Dot Girl Period Answer Book is also available at Amazon.com for purchase at under $17.

GIVEAWAY! We are offering a giveaway for one The Dot Girl First Period Kits to two winners!

You can receive a total of six entries for this giveaway. Just make a separate comment for each task that you complete. Good luck! This Giveaway will end on August 21, 2014 at  9 PM EST.

A portion of sales is donated to the Women’s Health Foundation (WHF) (http://womenshealthfoundation.org/) to support WHF’s research and development of evidence-based programming in schools and communities!

Cloud b Groovy Globe Review {and Giveaway!}

This post may contain an affiliate link. Click for the full disclosure.

If you have a child I’m sure you’ve seen a few of the super cute products that Cloud B produces. I’ve used the Sleep Sheep on the Go with my two year old when she was a baby…it was the only thing that helped her go to sleep! Today we are bringing you a Cloud b Groovy Globe Review. Plus another super cute review and Giveaway!

Dreamz To Go Groovy Globes will make teen dreams even sweeter too. These colorful globes feature cool graphics with hearts, flowers and psychedelic peace signs. Great for sleepovers, and also dorm rooms where candles are forbidden, these globes add a stylish touch to any room as they projects a dazzling show of groovy shapes to help ease teens to sleep after a long day hitting the books.

Let me start out by saying that my 6 1/2 year old apparently doesn’t like the dark. She’s been in Mommy and Daddy’s bed since she was about 2 1/2 and it’s my fault, I’ll fess up to it! You see my MIL got super sick a few years ago. So much so that she was unable to control the function of her legs. After a week hospital stay and no answers as to why this happened she was sent to another hospital 30 minutes away for re-hab. I was there with her every step of the way trying to get her rehabilitated. Therefore I didn’t see my girl until late at night when it was her time to be asleep. I’d bring her in my bed every night just so I could snuggle with her and it’s bitten me in the ass…

We had made strides getting her back into her bed, until we moved into a condo temporarily {sold our house unexpectedly!} over a year ago and then it started again. She was scared and I understood the reasoning as it was a new surrounding. Well now that we are in our “forever” home she’s settled in, but, says it’s to dark in her room. I took her to Target and got every night light that was around. We also bought her the Cloud B Lady Bug and gave her a flashlight {she was using to shine out the window looking for racoons so Momma had to take that away!}.

GroovyGlobeReview
I will just say that ever since we’ve been using the Cloud B Groovy Globe it’s like she’s excited to go lay in her bed! She falls asleep {sometimes with Mommy or Daddy in her bed} and wakes up to storms….and she’s back in our bed. However, on non-stormy nights she’s in her bed ALL night! It’s a VICTORY!

I feel that it’s super important for kiddos to sleep in their own beds. It’s a better night sleep and everyone feels rested and ready for a new day. With Back to School approaching I’m really trying to buckle down on our bedtime routine, get her sleeping in her own bed all night and using our Back to School Schedule to begin waking up on time and get ready for the day ahead. The Cloud B Groovy Globe has helped transition our sleeping situation and it’s truly helped everyone in the house get a better nights rest!

The other product from Cloud B that has helped our bedtime routine is Frankie the Fox. My son is now 8 months old and goes back and forth to wanting to fall asleep on his own to wanting me to rock him asleep. The problem isn’t getting him to sleep it’s getting him to say asleep. He’s the baby that hears a noise and wakes up because he thinks he’s missing out on a party!

FrankieTheFox

Isn’t he cute? With the new Foxy Frugal as the mascot of TFF I felt it only fitting to grab him!

Let me tell ya little boy, there is NO PARTY! going on whether it sounds like it or not!

Frankie the Fox is a plush that offers tranquil sounds to help calm and comfort children to sleep. Frankie the Fox is the perfect companion for a calm and restful night for both baby and parents!

Plays soothing sound options:

  • Sunny Days
  • Forrest Walk
  • Brook
  • Daydreams

Sound box timer and features

  • Two sleep-timer options: 23 and 45 minutes
  • Velcro tab for easy attachment to baby’s crib

I’ve been laying bubby in bed and turn on the Cloud B Frankie the Fox for 45 minutes to the “nature” sound. It not only helps him get to sleep on his own, but, he’s staying asleep! This helps him transition to a deeper sleep and while he falls asleep between 8-8:30 he stays asleep until around 4 am now! Before he was up every 2 hours, I’m not even kidding you….

I love the fact that Frankie can go with us anywhere! We took a overnight trip a few weeks ago and bubby cried the entire night. I think he was scared because he wasn’t aware of his surroundings and didn’t know where the heck he was. I didn’t take his pack n play and just held him the entire night…the next trip we take I’m taking Frankie in hopes that he’ll do a little better!

So now that I’ve got kids sleeping better I am too and that makes for one happy Momma!

Both Cloud B Products were super easy to set up. My 2 year old literally put Frankie on her brother’s crib all by herself. The velcro has stayed in place and not slipped one bit. I also loved the fact that both Cloud B products came with batteries!!!

You can purchase the Cloud B Groovy Globe (RV $24.99), Frankie the Fox ($30.95) and other cloud b products at Amazon, in stores at Target and many other retailers across the US!

Not to mention the used clothing stores…OH my word don’t even get me started! If I wanted to pay retail I’d hit up the Target Clearance section….know what I mean?
Anyways.

By the pictures I think it’s safe to say that the girls loved the items in the Swap.com box! The box arrived un-harmed!, came with a cute coloring page, a receipt and each item was individually wrapped! There were no funky smells, no pet hair anywhere and the clothes were in exceptional shape! Take a look at everything that I ordered:

Dinosaur Train ~ A Review and Giveaway!

This post may contain an affiliate link. Click for the full disclosure.

My son loves The Dinosaur Train series on PBS! It’s a really adorable show that teaches children all about the Jurassic period and the different animals that walked the earth at that time.

It’s taught in a really fun and exciting way that helps even really little ones to understand! And I’m not the only one who really likes this show for my child, which is obvious by their Emmy Award nomination and Parent’s Choice Silver Honor!

I was sent a few Dinosaur Train themed items to check out (or to have my son check out) and we’ve really loved all of them! He started out with these adorable wall stickers. For a family that lives in a rental home, these wall clings are great! They help to add a little personal touch to his walls without requiring something permanent like paint. He really loves them and moves them around pretty often.

We also were sent a story book of Dinosaur Train: Winter Lights by Golden Books. It’s really adorable and has a really sweet plot:

The Pteranodon family celebrates the beginning of winter with a trip to the North Pole! This Little Golden Book retells an episode of the PBS Kids show Dinosaur Train in which Buddy the T. rex and his siblings get to see the amazing Aurora Borealis!

My son is a big fan of puzzles, so he really loved this Dinosaur Train puzzle! It’s one that he was capable of putting together with very little adult assistance, and he’s only four! “Troodon” is just one of six new 24-piece jigsaw puzzles, and each one includes a bonus laminated Dinosaur Fact Card.  Kids can have fun putting the puzzle together while learning interesting facts about dinosaurs.

And last but not least we were sent a DVD of Dinosaur Train: We Are a Family. It’s such a sweet story that helps to reinforce the importance of family! And my son really loved it! (Okay, okay…I loved it, too.) It has a great story line:

Eight adventures feature prehistoric family fun at its best – the Pteranodon kids visit with their grandma and grandpa; Buddy, Tiny and Mr. Pteranodon join a few other dinos for a dad’s day out; and Buddy and the Pteranodon kids look for flowers to give to mom on her special Mother’s Day.

These are such great children’s items and all are currently available to purchase for your children! You can find the Golden Book wherever books are sold, the floor puzzle at AC Moore, Christmas Tree Shops and other independent retailers, the DVD is available on Amazon!

Also, they have graciously agreed to giveaway a book, a puzzle, stickers and DVD to one lucky TFF reader!
