These Jam Transit Bluetooth Headphones are my first cordless headphones ever and so I was excited to receive a pair to try out in exchange for my honest review. I love listening to music and I am always streaming my Pandora stations on my computer while I work. However, I often need to keep the volume down so that I don’t wake up my kids since I get up a lot earlier than they do. I am thrilled at the prospect of listening to music while I work and not disturb everyone else in my household.
The Jam Transit Headphones come pre-charged and are ready to use straight out of the case. The only step I needed to do was pair them with my phone in order to start streaming music. My phone’s bluetooth found the headphones almost instantly (less than 30 seconds) and before I knew it the devices were paired and my favorite Coffee House music station was playing! The headphones will play for up to 6 hours when completely charged so they are perfect for a long walk/hike/run , travel or work.
These headphones felt extremely comfortable when I put them on. They are lightweight but solid at the same time. They sit on my ears with just the right amount of pressure so I can bend over and move around and they will stay in place without pinching or squeezing. Some over-the-ear headphones can feel hot after a while and in-ear buds can be uncomfortable, so in my opinion, on-ear headphones are the best choice. After a few minutes of listening to music I wasn’t even aware that I had them on, that’s how comfy they are. And unlike other headphones, the Jam Transits are cord-free so I was able to move around and not worry about getting all tangled up.
The sound quality of the Jam Tranist headphones is excellent, especially considering that their price point is right around $49. The sound is clean and crisp and even at higher volume levels I did not notice any noise distortion. I asked my daughter to try them out because I wanted her perspective on these headphones. She agreed that they are comfy and the sound was great. She also pointed out that when she raised the volume (typical teenager!) she heard a warning “beep” (but she was nonetheless able to raise the volume). My guess is that this serves as a reminder to keep the volume at a level where you don’t run the risk of damaging your hearing. I think that’s a great feature to have, especially for teens.
Another cool feature of the Jam Transit Bluetooth headphones is that if you are streaming music from your phone and you receive a call, the music will pause before the phone rings and your call will come through. You can go ahead and answer (or ignore it) without ever having to take off the headphones. Once the call has ended, your music will resume, just like that. I think this feature is super useful and I tried it out to see if I could really hear the caller and if they could hear me. Sure enough, the call was clear and I was able to carry on a conversation just fine. Then when the call was over and my music resumed where it had left off!
The instructions say that these headphones will remain connected to your device up to a distance of 30 feet. I walked away to test this out and did notice some breaking up of the signal after about 20 feet. I am not sure what factors affect this. However, I would use these headphones mainly around the house or when I go on a walk and take my phone with me. So not being able to get a signal at a distance is not a deal breaker for me.
Even though I received this item in exchange for a review, I wholeheartedly recommend the Jam Transit Bluetooth headphones. The sound quality, comfort, ease of use and price point make them a great choice to own for yourself or to give as a present. In fact, I am so pleased with these headphones that I am featuring them in The Frugal Find’s Gift Guide. You can buy these Jam Transit headphones at Walmart or at most big box stores around the country!
