I’m excited to share you with you Jolene’s shopping trip, she has been cooking up this shopping trip for quite some time and had contacted me last week to see if I’d like to share it with all of you.  Of course I would!  I took it a bit further and asked Fresh & Easy if they wanted to partner with us and they were elated to do so.  They provided Jolene with a $50 gift card as a thank you and they’re also giving one of YOU a $50 gift card to do your Holdiday menu shopping at Fresh & Easy too! The rest is from Jolene…
______________________________________________
Simplify.  I’m determined to simplify my family’s Thanksgiving celebration this year.  With menu planning, cooking, baking, and decorating on my to-do list, I needed a simple shopping trip.  After studying all the grocery store ads, Fresh&Easy merits my dollars.  Jennie-O Frozen Turkey is priced $.39/lb –  with NO minimum purchase requirement attached!  Plus, there are two coupons–a $10/$50* and a $3/$30* available.  Other grocery stores are offering frozen turkeys at low prices — but they require additional minimum purchases of qualifying items.  I had a nightmare about standing in the checkout line at Safeway, nervous about whether my transaction would qualify me for their turkey (worrying about manufacturer coupons, store coupons, Catalinas).  Nope, other grocery stores were not helping me to simplify.  I chose Fresh&Easy!  Here are my 28 Thanksgiving items for $34.11!
>
  1. Jennie-O Frozen Turkey ($.39/lb) — $6.86
  2. Jennie-O Frozen Turkey ($.39/lb) — $4.03
  3. Fresh&Easy Spiral Sliced Ham ($1.47/lb) — $12.66
  4. Russet Potatoes, 10 lb bag — $.98
  5. Celery — $.49
  6. Fresh&Easy Yellow Onions, 2 lb — $.98
  7. (2) Del Monte Pineapples — $1.49 ea. regardless of size
  8. (2) Fresh&Easy Salt, 26 oz. –  $.36 ea.
  9. (2) Carnation Evaporated Milk — $.99 ea.
  10. C&H Brown Sugar, 1 lb. – $.99
  11. Libby’s Pure Pumpkin, 29 oz — $2.49

Now, the following items I want to highlight for you.  Purchase in groups to get the best price:

  1. (6) Fresh&Easy Canned Vegetables, 14-15 oz. – 6 for $3 (Buy in multiples of 6, a great donation item!)
  2. (2) Ocean Spray Fresh Cranberries, 12 oz — 2 for $3 (Buy in mulitples of 2)

Since I signed-up for the F&E Friends Card here (see Julia’s Friends Post), I earned special Bonus Points today on the following items.  If you’re familiar with Safeway’s Just4You e-coupons, this is very similar.  Before my trip, I simply went online to the Friends website, clicked on Bonus Coupons which I knew I’d be using, and they automatically loaded to my Friends Card.  I’ll explain more about Friends Bonus Points later.  Just know that even if you aren’t a Friends member, you’ll still pay these prices:

  1. Fresh&Easy Sliced Almonds, 6 oz. — $2.23 (Earn 5 Bonus Pts for every dollar spent on F&E Nuts)
  2. Fresh&Easy Frozen Spinach, 16 oz. — $1.59
  3. Fresh&Easy Frozen Butternut Squash, 10 oz. — $1.29
  4. Fresh&Easy Frozen Edamame, 16 oz. — $1.89 (Earn 2 Bonus Pts for every dollar spent on F&E Frozen items)
  5. (2) Fresh&Easy Italian Loaf, 12 oz. — $.98 ea. (Earn 3 Bonus Pts for every dollar spent on F&E Bakery wyb

My Subtotal was $50.11
Used in-ad coupon for $10 off $50* (-$10.00)
Used my earned cash rewards from Friends (-$6.00)
Paid $34.11

And, I will also be getting back more money later on!
1.)  I earned 114 points (roughly $1) thru Friends for future shopping trips, and
2.)  I earned 2% from Endorse

*The coupons for $10/$50 and $3/$30 exclude dairy products in CA & NV and expire 11/25.  They were both in the ad.  The $10/$50 is also printable online.  I took a picture of the Jennie-O shelf tag.  These turkeys will scan for $.39/lb at the register, so don’t go by the sticker on the turkey (which is showing the old price of $.59/lb).  These turkeys are a bargain right now!

I am so thankful that F&E moved into my neighborhood this year!  Before today’s trip, I had stopped in to F&E to pick-up one or two things.  This was my first major shopping trip here (and a holiday feast prep trip, no less!) and it was painless, simple, and easy!  The team members at F&E were all helpful & patient.  On my way out, I noticed a Holiday Food Donation Box.  I’ll be donating some of my items from today’s trip.  F&E is putting the “Giving” back into Thanksgiving!  Love F&E!

More Info about Friends and Bonus Points, if you’re interested:

Since we already know about CVS ExtraBucks, that might be a good parallel.  F&E Friends wants to give you Rewards (similar to CVS ExtraBucks) to spend on your NEXT shopping trip.  These Rewards are points which can be converted to cash rewards.  100 pts=$1.  In my trip today, I used my $6 cash reward (like a $6 ECB), and I could stack it with my F&E $10/$50 coupon!  Plus, my qualifying spend today was $50.11 so I earned points (50 pts for spending $50, plus another 50 pts from the Double Pts Promo running until Thanksgiving, plus 14 pts from my loaded bonus coupons).

Oh this is pretty neat!  I just got an email from Fresh & Easy and they’ve just announced a new rewards card!  This is how it works…

  1. First you’ll need to sign up for you new card here
  2. Then pick it up at your local Fresh & Easy store
  3. For every $1 you spend you earn 1 Point

The best part is you get 250 points JUST FOR JOINING and another 250 points because Fresh & Easy is so nice, so that’s 500 points which is equal to $5.00!

With your new Friends Card you’ll earn cash Rewards, bonus Coupons, and get insider news.  Also now through Thanksgiving you’ll earn double points!  If you had a chance to read through my Chicken Experiment you’ll see that I highly recommend the All Natural Boneless/Skinless chicken breast at Fresh & Easy as it’s regularly priced at $1.99/lb.

My total for everything pictured above was $20.30 before my $5/$20 coupon from today’s Fresh & Easy flyer in my SF Chronicle.  I also used a coupon from the Fresh & Easy Facebook Page to get my FREE re-usable bag.  I felt like such a rookie shopping there, is was a very new experience.

I was however pleasantly surprised with the low prices throughout the store.  Now, personally I don’t see myself buying too many manufacturer’s items there but I will definitely go back for some of the produce deals and the possibly the Organic Coffee (have to taste it first).  Even then I’d probably only go with another $5 off $20 or similar coupon.

For everything pictured above I paid $15.30.

Pineapple – $1.49
Mandarin Oranges, 5 lb box $3.99
Fresh & Easy Organic Ground Coffee, 12 oz – $5.88 (everyday low price)
(2) Frozen Bagged Veggies, 16 oz $0.99 (everyday low price)
12 Count Tortillas – $0.99
Whole Wheat Pizza Dough  -$1.49
Diced Onions, 10 oz (so excited not to chop them!) $1.00 each wyb 2
Stacy’s Bagel Chips – $1.29 (full size bag too!)
Spicy Brown Mustard (missed getting in the picture) $1.19

This is new, and pretty exciting – in today’s SF Chronicle I found a Fresh & Easy ad!  If this becomes a regular insert I’ll be happy to highlight a few of the deals I see. Now remember they do not accept manufacturer’s coupons, but they do accept their own in store coupons.  In the ad today you’ll find the following coupons…

  1. $5 off $20 Coupon
  2. $10 off $50 Coupon
  3. FREE Canvas Bag when you spend $20 (Facebook Offer)

I actually think, even without manufacturer’s coupons there are some great deals to be found at Fresh & Easy.  I have yet to take my first trip there, but I plan to very soon!  Plus I always love a good deal when it means I can also leave my coupons at home!   If you consider the $5 off $20 coupon and simply tell yourself everything you’re buying up to $20 is on sale 25% off – I’m certain you’ll find some great buys!

1 Dozen Eggs – $0.99
18 ct Eggs – $1.47
Pineapple – $1.49
Blackberries, 6oz $2.00 each wyb 2
Mandarin Oranges, 5 lb box $3.99
Russet Potatoes, 5 lb Bag $0.98
Fresh & Easy Organic Ground Coffee, 12 oz – $5.88 (everyday low price)
Frozen Bagged Veggies, 16 oz $0.99 (everyday low price)
San Pellegrino Water $1.00 each wyb 2
Gold Medal All-Purpose Flour, 5 lbs $1.99
Fresh & Easy Salted or Unsalted Butter, 16 oz $2.99
Vanity Fair Plates, 14 ct or Napkins, 100 ct $2.29
