Today’s Plum District deal really has me excited. I’d never heard of this service before, but so glad I have now…
For $20 you can get $40 worth of “tasks” at TaskRabitt.com – basically you post a task you want done and you list your own price. If a runner wants to take you up on your offer they accept the task and you go from there. I love that you name your own price!
Just think…how much is that run to Costco or the Post Office worth when you have sick kids? They can drop off Goodwill donations, pick up your dry cleaning, get your groceries, cook your dinner, organize your garage, walk your dog, weed your garden, exchange a purchase, organize your iTunes library, clean your hot tub and assemble your IKEA furniture.
EVEN better…you can use coupon codes with your Plum District deal, so instead of just $40…if you use Coupon Code: PAL32011 or sign up through THIS LINK you’ll get a $10 credit on your first task! That’s $20 for $50 worth of tasks! First you have you buy this deal through Plum District to get the first $40 for $20, then when you sign up with the above coupon code or link you’ll get the additional $10 from Task Rabbit.
We’re going through the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University right now and I was reading an interesting topic recently on my Dave Ramsey iPhone app…and it was on this topic exactly. Is it worth it to pay someone to do something that you can do yourself? Here is Dave’s answer…
“It’s a matter of mathematics. What is your personal time worth in the marketplace and should you be doing some of that in the marketplace to get out of debt rather than cutting your own lawn? If you’re an attorney and you bill $400 per hour, you’re probably better off doing a little more attorney work at $400 an hour if you’re trying to get out of debt. If you make $12 an hour you’d probably be better off pushing a lawnmower.”
With this deal being such a bargain at $20 and with the amount of time you could buy for $50, I’d venture to say that several of you could afford and that this would be a wise investment. What are your thoughts?
Highlights
- $20 for $40 worth of services from TaskRabbit
- A personal assistant when and where you need one!
- Outsource your tasks and errands to save yourself time and energy
The Fine Print
- Limit 10 vouchers per person
- You are allowed to use any other promos or coupons with your Plum deal too!
- No cash back
- Redeemable 24 hours after the deal closes
- Expires 01/11/11

I highly suggest contacting your local library and ask what time of year they have their book sales. You can also go here to see if there is a sale happening soon near you. Usually they’ll reserve the first day or two to teachers (homeschoolers too) then they’ll open it to the public. We’ve been able to get MANY books this way anywhere from FREE to $0.25 ea. I absolutely love these sales because often they’re books that are out of print, hardbacks, and a lot of classic books too.
Just last month I went to the Pleasant Hill Library book sale with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised to find out when we arrived that everything was free! Now, I thought it was great – but totally silly on their part. I mean at least ask for a donation…
Edi Birsan, who is currently running in for Concord City Council sent me the following details for a local to me Library Book Sale in Concord, thanks Edi!
Saturday, September 25th from 10AM to 3PM ($0.25 – $1.00 per book)
Sunday the 26th they’ll have the big Bag Sale – $3 per bag (Trader Joes bags will be provided)
Concord Library is 2900 Salvio (at Parkside by City Hall)

I also have a few door prizes planned…just thought you’d like to know
How it works:
- Bring coupons that you don’t need, can’t use, or simply would like to share!
- Take coupons that you need, can use, and would love to have!

Only 1 day left to buy this great deal! Head on over to Savvy Source and find today’s San Francisco local deal. It’s one you won’t want to miss if you have little ones. Right now you can buy a 5 visit pass good for 3 people per visit for $35 to the Habitot Children’s Museum in Berkely. (73% off! the regular price of admission)! Share this deal with your friends then plan a play date with the kiddos! You can tweet this deal, share in on Facebook, or email it to a friend with the little buttons at the bottom of the post.
We’ve been to Habitot many times with our kids, we’d take Bart in for an extra special adventure as it drops you off just around the corner. I will say from our experience once your children reach about 5-6 years old they’re really too old for the museum. While our 2 youngest would enjoy it our older two (6-8 years) would be bored. The BEST part was that they could make a mess painting, playing in the water, and putting on “make-up” and when we’re done we could leave it all behind! At one time they had a rocket ship inside with a million buttons that the boys absolutely loved!
Habitot may be a small nonprofit museum for small children, but it packs a big punch. The museum is a Nickelodeon Parent’s Pick winner for ‘Best Museum for Little Kids’ in 2008, and a nominee for the same award in 2009! Those are just two of the many accolades that Habitot has received over the years, and as soon as you step into the museum, you’ll know why. To put it plainly, their exhibits are just so much fun for young children. What infant, toddler or young child doesn’t enjoy wheeling a cart around the Little Town Grocery and Cafe, choosing plastic food from bins, paying at the cash register, and then sitting down with mommy for a pretend tea? How can they resist splashing in the Waterworks play area, with all its waterwheels, pumps and buckets? There’s even a fenced-in infant/toddler garden with wooden carrots to plant or harvest.
The Details:
- Experience the most popular and award-winning children’s hands on discovery museum in the East Bay
- Enjoy the hands on exhibits and indoor play areas are especially for infants, toddlers and young children
- Five visit pass is good for 5 separate visits for up to 3 people each visit
The Fine Print:
A coupon cannot becombined with any other gift certificates, third party certificates, coupons or promotions, unless otherwise specified by merchant. The coupon is of no cash value. Coupon is transferable and can be purchased as a gift.
Added Bonus:
5% of your purchase will be donated to the preschool of your choice and 5% to a preschool scholarship fund for children in need.
