The heat is on! Check out these cool savings at the 99 Cents Only Stores…
- Polly O Whole Milk Mozzarella Cheese, 8 oz.
- Jennie-O Turkey Franks 50% Less Fat
- Mountain High Fat Free Natural Yogurt, huge 32 oz. (in vanilla or plain)
- San Marcos Taco Sauce, 17.5 oz.

I stocked-up on the mozzarella cheese for only 99 cents a piece — Lucky is selling this for $5.99 (seriously?!)! Sliced mozzarella, tomato, and basil sandwiches for lunch. Shred some mozzarella for lasagne or pizza. For dessert, how about Fresh Fruit Parfaits? Cubes of cantaloupe & grapes layered with vanilla yogurt all sprinkled with granola (especially if you grabbed granola inexpensively last week at Lucky). I also spotted assorted Lunchables which would be handy if you’re headed to the park with the kids. What did you find at the 99 Cents Only Store? Everything is 99 cents, go here to find a 99 Cents Only Store near you.

hi by any chance have you checked your e-mails yet?
Jolene July 20, 2011 at 5:44 pm
Thanks for sharing your tip, Sara! I wish you all could’ve felt the excitement of other shoppers as we found these bargains. We felt giddy & the conversation flowed amongst perfect strangers, all united in the magic of a frugal find. As I selected my grapes, another shopper & I swapped tips about choosing the best ones … across the aisle, I overheard a conversation between shoppers sharing a recipe for homemade salad dressing to use on their Living Lettuce. A young mother was loading her basket with Lunchables & she shared with me that today was Moving Day at her house, and with her kitchenware packed in boxes & many hungry mouths, she was absolutely grateful to have found the Lunchables today! It felt so uplifted seeing people sharing & feeling grateful.

Hi Jolene,
I was just wondering if you went to the one on Somerville in Antioch? I never seem to find the “good stuff” there.
Jolene July 21, 2011 at 8:42 am
Heather, this trip was at the Concord store on Clayton Road. To help you find the “good stuff”, here are a few tips to try:
-Learn when your particular store receives deliveries & stocks the shelves (ask your cashier or manager) and plan your trip accordingly.
-Check the display in the lobby which I like to call “Wall of Wow” (WOW). These shelves always showcase the “good stuff” (shelf-stable items, only, of course). Whenever I shop, my first place to look is on this WOW in the front lobby, when you first enter the doors, near the cashiers.
-Observe what other shoppers have in their carts. I routinely am alerted to good deals by glancing in a fellow shopper’s cart.
-Ask an associate nicely if you’re interested in a particular item, and sometimes the associate will retrieve it from the back for you (this applies to produce or chilled items in particular)
-Go in with an open mind. This is different from shopping at the mainstream stores. Think: Treasure Hunt.
Be patient with yourself, and you will be surprised with what you’ll find.

We slice fresh mozzarella for our weekly pizza night – melts much better and tastes so much better than the shredded store-bought!
